Ombré Wall Finish Technique & Paint Colors

No rose colored glasses here, this is really an ombré dream. I always envisioned having a little workshop in my backyard, this pink dream is beyond. All the paint colors and process I used to create this finish are in the post below. I also experimented with a new paint spray gun that sped up this entire thing. I decided to longterm to commit to a different kind, read about that below.

In this blog post:

BEFORE & AFTER

This little garage was outfitted in pine shiplap style planking.

Shades of pinks and purples were never really part of my plan, but when you guys gave me the suggestion to do ombré it just started feeling like there was potential for something magical. The views from in here are insane and it touches these magical, enchanted woods that feel nothing short of a fairytale.

BEFORE & AFTER

Paint Colors

The colors were chosen based on two colors I already had from using them in my girls’ rooms. Both of these are Sherwin Williams colors and the rest are Behr paint from Home Depot. I mixed the colors as I went shown in the image below.

  1. Rose Colored -Sherwin Williams

2. Eccentric Magenta -Behr

3. Enchant- Sherwin Williams

4. Ancestry Violet– Behr

5.Solitaire- Behr

6. Strong Iris– Behr

I mixed the colors together to create unique, fading colors. Below are the combos I used. This could be recreated with unique colors.

Ombré Technique

I started painting by hand……..

……….and then decided to invest in a new tool to help me out.

The paint gun I grabedd from Home Depot caught my eye because it was cordless.

Want to purchase a paint gun to speed up paint projects too? Check this one out, linked below!

Paint Gun

The paint gun allowed me to create a cool fading effect that would be hard to achieve without it. On a regular wall (not shiplap) this would be an extra benefit on an ombre wall.

I started with the darkest color at the bottom and worked up to lighter. I wanted both pink and purple, but you could do one color family or fade into other colors like I did here. I mixed my lighter colors into the darker on each shiplap piece moving up. The combinations are endless.

Once I had the shiplap painted I went back and did the trim the bright Eccentric Magenta color.

Once I had the walls all painted I realized the ceiling was entirely killing my vibes. So I got to work complaining about how hard it is to paint ceilings. My husband took the bait and got to work painting it for me.

We used the top wall color, Rose Colored, for the ceiling.

Hope you found this post helpful to achieve your own ombré wall visions. Next up, sharing this pretty workshop get outfitted.

XOXO
